Two Ateliers, One Stage: Poelle x the COAT
the COAT by Katya Silchenko is named after its signature piece: a bright coat. Poelle makes bags. Two ateliers, two languages, and one stage where they first spoke together.
The runway came first
Our bags first appeared at the COAT’s spring-summer 2026 show. That show, in September 2025, closed Ukrainian Fashion Week. The COAT dedicated the collection to the theater. Black was set aside on purpose for a lively palette of pink, blue, brown and its many shades. The looks on the runway were finished with bags made together with Poelle.
In December 2025 those bags came out as a limited collection of their own, POELLE x the COAT by Katya Silchenko. We called it Celebrate Yourself.
A bag for the theater
The inspiration was the flourishing of theater life. “Theater in Ukraine is going through a renaissance. Remarkable productions, bright premieres, a new aesthetic: it is a living process, and it inspires. At some point I realized I was missing a special little bag to take to the theater,” says Katya Silchenko, creative director of the COAT.
We wanted every piece to be special in its colors and shapes, pleasant to the touch and precise in its details. Still, the collection did not become purely “theatrical.” There are pieces to wear every day, yet each has a detail you cannot miss.
Three pieces
Debut is a tiny suede cocktail bag. “It will be your faithful companion at premieres, openings and cocktail parties. Theater binoculars and a cloakroom ticket fit inside easily, and it is easy to hold together with a glass of champagne. What else does a perfect theater bag need?” says Poelle creative director Pavlo Popko. Debut now comes in lime, chocolate, olive and orange.
Prima comes in two sizes, Large and Mini, with feather trim. And the COAT team reworked our Bell bag in new materials: that is how Belle, in wool and leather, came about.
Minimalism and a twist
“I love how this collaboration brings together POELLE’s minimalism and the twist that is always part of the COAT. For us, it is first of all about color and texture, and about feathers. Together it makes something very recognizable, tactile and emotional,” Katya explains.
Our part is the clean form and the atelier’s handwork. The COAT’s part is color, texture and daring. Together they made pieces for the opera, a first date, a dream trip, or an ordinary day when you want to feel extraordinary.
